SOLD Vintage 1950s Egyptian Revival Faience Scarab Necklace

Sold Vintage Jewellery

in stock

This lovely little vintage Egyptian necklace has faience scarabs (ceramic scarabs with a turquoise glaze). Hand produced in Egypt circa 1950 (hallmark is an Arabic letter which is the silver hallmark used in Egypt since 1940). It is a short and delicate necklace with five scarabs in a decorative border - tests to 900 silver (as is most of the silver coming our of Egypt in this period).

Condition Report

Spectacular vintage condition. Shows mild wear commensurate with age, will come with some patina, as level of polish is a matter of taste. There are two very small rubbs to the glaze - see pics, very minor. The chain is original but the clasp looks more modern to I assume it has been replaced at some point. Has a handcrafted look to it - amazing vintage necklace.
